ABOUT CBD

Due to a lot of misinformation, people can often be confused about cannabis and the distinction between cannabis and its two-primary species — hemp and marijuana.

Imagine the Cannabis plant is the “mother” of two children, hemp and marijuana. Hemp produces a natural chemical compound found in the plant (Cannabinol/CBD) that everyone is talking about and has become a multi-billion-dollar industry, while marijuana produces a natural compound (Tetrahydrocannabinol/THC) that has dominated the market for decades and until recently classified as a drug. As you can see, CBD and THC are totally different. CBD does not have the chemical compound to produce the psychoactive “high” that most consumers experience with marijuana and THC use. The main difference is that marijuana (THC) is psychoactive and hemp (CBD) is non-psychoactive with amazing health benefits. The mother plant, Cannabis, is one of the 50 fundamental herbs in traditional Chinese medicine with the extracted CBD resin having the most therapeutic compounds.

HEMP VERSUS MARIJUANA

To most consumers, hemp and marijuana can appear physically similar, but if you know what to look for you can easily tell the difference. Marijuana has  wide leaves and the buds are dense. On the other hand, hemp features small leaves that are dense and grow at the top of the plant. There are similarities in each plant, but each has a biological structure that creates its own unique compound. And, each have several very qualifying differences both anatomically and chemically. When both of the plants are compared side by side, they can each clearly be identified. However, it is widely accepted that they are each used for very different purposes. Marijuana (THC), is used for medicinal or recreational purposes and hemp (CBD) is used for its health benefits. For example, research has shown that when CBD is smoked, vaped or ingested, it turns on specific receptors that influence body function around appetite, pain, mood, memory and anxiety.

PLANTS OVER PILLS

People commonly use prescription medication or over-the-counter drugs to relieve pain and anxiety.

Platinum Jane has created and curated the most naturally superior CBD products and we encourage people to try them instead of pills. Many people who are addicted to nicotine or suffer from substance abuse use CBD as an alternative or reverse gateway to pharmaceutical applications. CBD has also shown relief for people who suffer from chronic pain, anxiety, epilepsy and more. CBD is the main ingredient/extract in most of Platinum Jane’s products. As we have repeated, CBD is non-psychoactive, so you won’t get “high” at all. You may feel relaxed or calm with its use. We do.

These reported health benefits from the use of CBD have not been FDA approved so we encourage all our consumers to conduct their own research around the use of CBD and anything that may be contraindicated as a result of its use. There is still very little long-term safety data around CBD use and tests have not been carried out on children at this time. As with any new or alternative treatment option, we encourage our consumers to discuss CBD use with their health care professionals.

CBD & THC LEGALITY

The presence of THC in hemp vs marijuana not only plays a huge role in how each plant is used but is also the defining factor in the legality of each plant.

Countries vary on their acceptance around dosage and regulatory compliance of both CBD and THC products. This applies to cultivation, sales, transportation, distribution and advertising.  CBD is federally legal. Platinum Jane's products are compliant and we continually monitor CBD regulations closely. We do not use THC in our products, so our brand is well-positioned and may be distributed nationally. Also, in the United States, CBD is federally legal whereas THC is not.

In most of the United States, the allowed THC-content to be classified as legal is 0.3%, while in much of the rest of the world it is 0.2%. Because of its high THC-content, marijuana is still illegal in most parts of the world, including parts of the US. Platinum Jane offers an alternative to THC use with its CBD products and we encourage you to adopt it too.

Now that you are an expert at defining the difference between CBD and THC, we encourage you to try Platinum Jane’s products and share with your friends.
